Who should take this course?

PADI
(Junior) Open Water Divers who are at least 10 years old are ready to
step up and enroll in an Advanced Open Water Diver course. Young divers
(10-11) may only participate in certain Adventures Dives – check with your PADI
Instructor.

If you’re already an Adventure Diver, you only need to complete two more Adventure Dives to earn the Advanced Open Water Diver certification.


What will you learn?

You’ll plan your learning path with your instructor by choosing from a long
list of Adventure Dives. There are two required dives – Deep and
Underwater Navigation – and you choose the other three, for a total of
five dives.


During the Deep Adventure
Dive, you learn how to plan dives to deal with the physiological effects
and challenges of deeper scuba diving. The Underwater Navigation
Adventure Dive refines your compass navigation skills and helps you
better navigate using kick-cycles, visual landmarks and time.


The other knowledge and skills you get vary with your interest and the
adventures you have – photography, buoyancy control, fish
identification, exploring wrecks and many more.


How can you start learning now?


Sign up for Advanced Open Water Diver Online
– PADI’s eLearning option – to get started immediately. The web-based
system lets you learn about seven of the most popular Adventures Dives –
including the required Deep and Underwater Navigation Adventure Dives,
plus Boat, Night, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Naturalist and
Wreck Adventure Dives. You study at your own pace through an easy to
use, interactive program. You also have access to an online version of
the Advanced Open Water Diver manual and can complete sections for other Adventure Dives as directed by your PADI Instructor.


You can also choose to read the Advanced Open Water Diver manual and watch the Advanced Open Water Diver video (a book and DVD package). Stop by our PADI Dive Center to enroll in the course, get your materials and start learning. Your PADI Instructor will meet with you to schedule knowledge review sessions along with your Adventure Dives.


What equipment will you use?


Beyond using basic scuba equipment, you’ll need a compass and dive knife or dive tool. You’ll also use specialized gear depending on the Adventure Dives you choose. For example, you’d obviously use a dry suit for the Dry Suit Adventure Dive or a sidemount configuration during the Side-mount Adventure Dive. Your PADI Instructor will explain the equipment that you need and may suggest additional gear, such as dive light for night diving or lift bag for search and recovery diving.

Any decision made in this regard will be at the absolute discretion of the Dive Supervisor aboard the vessel.\r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nInsurance Advice\r\n\r\n•\tWe strongly recommend that all customers are covered by a comprehensive travel insurance policy.\r\n•\tWe strongly recommend that all customers also purchase evacuation and medical cover for SCUBA diving. SCUBA diving and In-water activities are not covered by all travel insurance policies, and policy terms should be read carefully. It is important to note that in the event a customer requires medical emergency services; the evacuation, medical, and vessel relocation expenses are at the financial responsibility of the customer.\r\n•\tDivers Alert Network (DAN) www.diversalertnetwork.org & Dive\r\nAssure www.diveassure.com offer comprehensive insurance packages specifically for SCUBA divers.\r\n\r\nSCUBA Diving\r\n\r\n•\tWe require all Certified Divers to present a valid Certification Card. Failure to show a Certification Card may result in the customer not being able to dive on the tour.\r\n•\tOur tours are subject to the risks and perils of SCUBA diving in changeable conditions in an open water environment. We reserve the right, for our customer’s safety and the safety of our crew, to prevent any participation from SCUBA diving at our sole discretion.\r\n•\tNo compensation is offered if you should be unable to complete all offered dives at the fault of your own.\r\n•\tWe strongly recommend a wait of 24 hours before flying after diving.\r\n•\tYou must not participate in SCUBA diving or snorkelling whilst under the influence of alcohol or any drugs. We will refuse entry to the water in the event we have reasonable grounds to expect a customer has consumed alcohol or drugs within a timeframe that could, in any way, affect their ability to SCUBA dive/ snorkel safely.\r\n \r\nAny decision made in this regard will be at the absolute discretion of the Dive Supervisor aboard the vessel.\r\n•\tIf any equipment or property belonging to us is damaged or lost we reserve the right to charge the customer responsible to make good the damage or loss.\r\n•\tTo participate in SCUBA diving / snorkelling ALL Customers are required to agree to, and sign, our liability forms relevant to the activity they will be undertaking.\r\n•\tRental dive equipment used is BCD, Regulator with 1st Stage, Primary and alternate 2nd Stage, Gauges with Dive Computer, emergency signalling equipment, including a high visibility signalling device, for example, a safety sausage; and an audible signalling device (e.g. a whistle). A 16 or 17 year old may travel if we have prior written parental consent and must have the relevant liability forms signed by a Parent or Guardian.\r\n•\tOpen Water Courses: The minimum age is 12 to participate in a PADI Open Water Course. The Master of the Vessel has the absolute discretion to make any decisions in this regard and the decision of the Master of the Vessel will be final.
