Where can you go? Well, Pacific Star has made numerous trips to the Pacific Islands, so most areas of the Hauraki Gulf are within easy reach.

Tell us where you’d like to go and we’ll work out the details, taking into account the wind and weather.

Perhaps we’ll anchor in a secluded cove where you can swim, snorkel or try stand-up paddleboarding. 

If you’d like to take the helm or help trim the sails, skipper Bruce will be happy to show you the ropes.

As we sail, you’ll spot seabirds and may also see dolphins, and even whales.

Please note that, out of respect for endangered marine ecosystems, there is no fishing aboard Pacific Star.

Important information for all sailing tours:

  1. Bring sunblock and a rain jacket just in case
  2. Lunch, snacks and non-alcoholic drinks are included in your tour price
  3. The boat is licensed for the supply of alcohol, and we allow BYO in reasonable quantities. Please check with us in advance if you need further information. For charter groups, we reserve the right to end a charter early and without refund if anyone in the charter group becomes intoxicated.
  4. Our skipper is licensed and very experienced. You will receive a safety briefing before departure. Pacific Star carries flotation devices, fire extinguishers, marine radio and an emergency position-indicating radio beacon. You must adhere to any instructions from the crew, including wearing life jackets if directed.
  5. If you suffer from sea sickness, we recommend that you take sea sickness medication before sailing. There are no refunds for charters cut short by sea sickness.
  6. Please tell us in advance if you have a serious health condition that could affect you during your tour. If you are unsure, please see advice in advance from your health care provider.
  7. During your tour, we may take photographs or make video recordings, and these may be used in promoting our business. If you prefer not to be included in these, please let us know.
  8. Pacific Star departs from the far wharf at Matiatia, Waiheke Island, to your left as you leave the Ferry Terminal
  9. Departure is at 9.45am


Visiting pest-free islands

The Hauraki Gulf is a marine park, and many islands are either pest-free or partially pest-free.

Our boat, Pacific Star, is licensed by the Department of Conservation and Auckland Council to visit pest-free islands. To maintain the biosecurity of these islands, it is essential that everyone visiting them follows these rules:
If anyone on the tour does not follow these rules, we may have no choice but to cancel the tour. Please contact us if you have any questions.
