Starting at Westhaven Marina, just a short walk from Viaduct Harbour and Wynyard Quarter, you’ll paddle alongside the marina, taking in the stunning views of the iconic Sky Tower and vibrant city skyline. Enjoy the best seat in the house—your kayak—as you experience the perfect blend of urban exploration and the tranquility of paddling on the water.
What’s Provided? We supply all the necessary paddling gear, including a buoyancy aid, spray skirt, spray jacket, and a dry bag for your personal items.
What to Bring:
- Camera or phone
- Water bottle
- Shorts or leggings for kayaking (no jeans or track pants)
- A warm top
- Shoes or sandals that you don’t mind getting a little wet
MPORTANT: Please arrive at Westhaven Marina Boat Ramp - Z pier, 10 minutes before your trip starts. No jeans or track pants. For cooler months, feel free to bring a change of clothes, which we can store in a dry bag.
Parking. Parking at the Westhaven Marina Boat Ramp - Z pier is pay-by-plate. You can pay using the INUGO app or by credit card at the machine on site. To download the INUGO app for Z pier parking go here for google play OR go here for apple store
Safety and Risks Sea kayaking carries inherent risks, including potential injury or even death. While we follow strict risk management and safety procedures, there is always an element of danger. Your safety is our top priority, and we provide a comprehensive paddling and safety briefing before each tour.
To ensure a safe and enjoyable tour, the following restrictions apply:
Physical Requirements: Participants must weigh no more than 120 kg to ensure they can safely and comfortably fit in our kayaks (seat width 65 cm). For safety reasons, all guests must be able to re-enter the kayak with assistance from a guide in the unlikely event of a capsize. Participants must also be able to properly and securely fit into our provided life jackets and spray skirts in order to take part in the tour.
Endurance: Tours require participants to sit and paddle for up to 1 hour at a time without breaks for stretching or getting out of the kayak.
Language Proficiency: All tours are conducted in English, and participants must be able to speak and understand English to follow safety instructions and engage with the guide.
